Feedback from Prawn Shocker.

I was asked to make a CD cover and a logo for a band named Prawn Shocker. After watching the YouTube video's and searching Prawn Shocker around on Google I felt the clients content was a bit obscure and far different from anything that I have ever seen, most definitely the one of the most strangest things I have ever seen or heard before, I had not talked directly to the client our tutor was the one who gave us the project to work on, however I like the fact that I've never heard anything like that its unique I would listen to it personally I felt it was a struggle because I couldn't figure out the genre which the type of music was so this made the target audience hard to work out. The first thing I did was the logo prawn shocker I had no idea what I was going to do so I ended up finding images of black and white prawns on the internet and cutting, shaping and turning them into letter that spelled the word prawn shocker. I thought that this Logo I made was a pretty basic idea but it was quite good. The CD cover I made was pretty weird again I didn't have a clue what the genre was so I just put a random samurai fighter with the words prawn shocker in the top left corner and a full moon in the top right corner. This is was pretty basic but I couldn't think of anything else other than knowing the client liked Japan. This wasn't the best piece of work that I have produced. I think the prawn shocker logo with the prawns spelling the words worked quite well although some of the letter looked a bit off and looked hard to read. A colourful background could of been added instead of a plain boring white background. The cut out of the samurai for the CD logo worked well however the client said that the CD looked to much of a rock band cover. All in all making the CD and the Prawn Shocker logo was quite cool. It was a good experience knowing that I was making a product that a client has asked for. However the client said he did like the idea of the prawns as the font of the logo but he said that more work was also needed on the letter to make them more readable. He also said the CD cover would of looked better if it had something madcap and surreal. Overall I enjoyed this experience which has given me an overview of what doing actual real work for a client feels like. However I which I spent more time on my project I wish I had tried out different way to create the end product. Both the Logo and the CD cover were both made and finished for first goes.  The client wasn't really that satisfied with my final work as they said work had to be done on my piece of work in order to make the client happy. If I were to repeat the same task I would make sure I spent my own time making it more creative and professional which would mean having better time management and working on it after classes in my free time. The time management was sort of okay as but I only spent time making the product in class time. I suppose the logo met the target audience of prawn shocker as it was weird and had different vibes. I feel like the end product could of meet the needs of the target audience as it is weird and includes things around prawn shocker.  Overall I felt like the project was good the ideas were there just not a lot of motivation to complete the task on a near professional standard.

CD cover for prawn shocker.

Firstly I opened up Photoshop added a background I chose the colour red because of the Japanese flag which has a red circle in it. I then added a picture of a samurai which symbolises a Japanese warrior which a red circle on his chest which could also stand as a Japanese flag.

 Finally I added a picture of the moon in the top right corner and added the title 'Prawn Shocker' in the top left for the brands identity.

I am starting my project firstly on a logo for prawnshocker I used images of prawns to write the word prawn shocker. This will be going to a client who has a band called prawn shocker.

This is the final writing for the logo for prawn shocker. The letter 'e' was the hardest to make

This is a screen shot of the the logo later on.

This is my end product of my prawn shocker logo.

Digital Imaging for print

Joint picture encoding group (JPEG) Is a popular file format because you can send it without losing file quality it can also be compressed into small files. Its pretty ideal for both printing and web usages as it can load up pretty quickly and still have good quality however it is not the best quality.  The JPEG standard (ISO/IEC10918) was created in 1992.

Photo shops quality is the best quality that can be used in photoshop. It will print out the best quality you can get. However it will only work in photo shop or some adobe softwares. Photoshops file doesn't compress down as it's only made to be used in photo shop. Gif is very popular for web which stands for (graphic interchange file) it is good to use on web but not good for photographs or for text. It can have a transparent background another problem with gifs are that the filters do not work. PDF made by adobe which stands for (Portable document file) can't be used in print, it saves layers and can be compressed it's not as popular. PDF allows you to save and PDF file like work up onto photoshop. if it's saved as 70 framers per dot and opened with 300 frames per dot it will not lose quality. PNG is the new one meaning (portable network graphic) just like a gif it compresses the file and makes it really small. It also has a transparent background with better quality. It's great for the web but not that good for print. TIF is one of the oldest file format meaning (tagged interchange format) it is one of the best files to use in a print company. Eps is the most popular for print meaning (ENCAPSULATED POST SCRIPTED FORMAT) the best quality for print you can save an image as 72 dots per inch but can be sent at 300 dots. It's got half time details and can be sent from a computer straight to a printer and can be printed out exactly the same. ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR OWN FOTMAT Can be used only SVG if designed in illustrator meaning (Scalable Vector Graphic) meaning the file can be zoomed in and out and it won't lose quality, it's not good for tone or text but it's good for graphic. CODEC makes pictures smaller and when it's opened up in email it makes it bigger again.

Optimum resolution the quality of the image.

In printing DP(dots per inch) 72dpi matches the number of dots per every inch on monitors. However when in print it has to have 300 dots per inch which balances in between quality and the file size. Optimum resolution means the best quality which is the max of 4k on monitors.

Mega pixel means thousands of pixels.
5MP= 10cm x 15cm
12mp= A4
18mp= A3

2 places in digital imaging that work with colour for printing and on screen

The current highest screen resolution is 4k or exactly 4096mp per inch.

There are seven colours of light in imaging which are the colours of a rainbow red,orange,yellow,green, blue,indigo and violet,which when mixed together makes white. However our brain can pick out the RGB colours mostly which are red,green and blue. These three colours can reproduce a broad variety of colours when they are mixed. RGB colours are made for screen images.

Image result for RGB

There are up to 256 shades of each colour going from black to white.

The colours used for printing are CMYK which stands from: Cyan, Megenta, Yellow, and K-black.  CMYK colours are used fro printing. It is made from four colours and is also used for describing the printing process.

Gamut warning on photoshop means the range of colours that a colour device can display or print out. A colour that is showed on you monitor in RGB might not be printable in gamut of your CMYK printer. For example the blue that comes on the monitor prints as a purple.

Colouring in chance the rapper

 Link to the image I used of chance the rapper. Which is on the website

http://www.thefader.com/2016/05/23/chance-the-rapper-coloring-book-real-colorhttp://thefader-res.cloudinary.com/images/w_640,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:best/Screen_Shot_2016-05-23_at_4.18.59_PM_pa0a4c/chance-the-rapper-coloring-book-real-color.jpg

I used the magic wand tool to select parts of the image I wanted to colour in I then clicked the black box to pick a colour I wanted to use then I used to colour filling tool to fill in the selected areas. And the multiply mode to colour behind the black lines.
